How does MotoBidz work?

MotoBidz is an introduction platform. We connect private sellers with registered motor dealers through real-time timed bidding windows. We verify that dealers are licensed motor traders. We do NOT verify the vehicle, the seller, or any seller-supplied document. The dealer is solely responsible for their own due diligence before bidding. If the seller accepts the highest bid, the sale is concluded directly between the seller and the dealer. The R1,500 fee is for the introduction only.

Does MotoBidz verify the cars or sellers?

No. We verify dealers only. Sellers' documents and details are displayed to dealers unverified, and dealers carry full responsibility for checking them.

How much does it cost to list my car?

Nothing. Listing is completely free. There is no charge at any stage for sellers — not for listing, not for relisting, not for accepting a bid, not for declining. MotoBidz is always free for sellers.

How many photos do I need?

Accepted Answer

Minimum 8 clear photos. Front, rear, both sides, interior front and rear, dashboard, odometer, engine bay, and any damage. More clear photos tend to attract more dealer interest. You'll also record a mandatory 60–90 second video walkaround of the car — this is required on every listing.

Do I need to upload a video?

Yes. Every listing requires one continuous 60–90 second video walkaround showing the exterior, interior, dashboard with the odometer, engine bay and licence disk. It's the single best way to attract strong, confident bids. MotoBidz does not verify or edit your video — dealers review it as part of their own due diligence.

How long does my bidding window run?

You choose a 24, 48, or 72-hour bidding window when listing. We recommend 48 hours for the best balance of speed and competitive bidding.

Can dealers see my contact details while my listing is live?

Accepted Answer

Never. Your name and phone number are completely private while your listing is live. They are only released to the winning dealer after two things happen: you accept the winning bid AND the dealer pays the R1,500 MotoBidz introduction fee.

What if I don't like the bids?

You can decline all bids at any time with no charge. You can also relist your car and try again — listing is always free.

Does MotoBidz have reserve prices?

Accepted Answer

No. MotoBidz does not use reserve prices. Any bid opens bidding. When the timer closes, the highest bid is presented to the seller. The seller then has 24 hours after the listing closes to accept or decline (both free). This keeps the process simple and transparent for everyone.

How quickly will my car sell?

Your listing runs for the bidding window you choose — 24, 48 or 72 hours. When it closes, you receive the highest bid and decide whether to accept or decline. How fast a car sells depends on the vehicle, the price and dealer demand, so we don't promise a timeframe.

What documents do I need?

Accepted Answer

You provide: your ID, cell number and email, the vehicle's NaTIS registration document, service history, the licence disk, proof of address, and — for a financed vehicle — a bank settlement letter. These are shown to bidding dealers exactly as you upload them so they can do their own due diligence. MotoBidz does not verify any document.

How much does it cost to join MotoBidz as a dealer?

Joining is completely free. There are no monthly fees. You pay R1,500 only when you win a listing AND the seller accepts your bid.

How does anonymous bidding work?

Accepted Answer

Every dealer submits their bid through a private secure form. No other dealer ever sees your name, your bid amount, or that you participated. The only public information is the current highest bid amount shown on the listing — with no name attached.

What does R1,500 get me?

Accepted Answer

It unlocks the seller's direct full name and phone number. You then contact the seller directly to arrange a viewing and conclude the sale. MotoBidz does not take any commission on the sale price.

What if the seller declines after I win?

You pay nothing if the seller declines. The R1,500 is only charged after the seller confirms acceptance.

How long do I have to pay after the seller accepts?

Accepted Answer

After a seller accepts, you have 48 hours to pay the R1,500 introduction fee (extended to 18:00 the next working day if that falls on a Sunday or public holiday). If you don't pay in time, the introduction lapses and the seller's details are not released — no charge applies and the seller can relist.

How do I register as a dealer?

Submit your CIPC registration, Motor Dealer Licence, director ID, authorised bidder ID and proof of address during registration. We aim to check these documents within 24 hours. This verification covers the documents on file only — MotoBidz does not guarantee any dealer's ongoing conduct or solvency.

What provinces are covered?

Sellers can list from any of South Africa's 9 provinces. Dealer activity is strongest in Gauteng and the Western Cape and is growing across the country.

Can I see the seller's details before bidding?

Accepted Answer

No. Seller contact details are never shown before or during an open listing. They are only released after you win AND the seller accepts AND you pay the R1,500 introduction fee.
